Hello I am Zhining Liu, you can also call me Cecilia, I am from the northeast of China, Changchun City, Jilin Province. I am 22 years old. I am currently studying economics at UVic, and this class is my last class at UVic.I remember the first time I came to Canada to study was at age 16. One year later we went through the pandemic period, and at that time we fully appreciated diversity education. It allowed us to keep ourselves safe and still receive a variety of educational resources. My favorite was using zoom as well as various video platforms.
Digital literacy is crucial in open and distributed learning environments. It enables learners to navigate online platforms, access educational resources, participate in virtual classrooms and collaborate with peers and teachers. Digital literacy ensures learners can assess online information more accurately and prevent misinformation. In addition, digital literacy contributes to developing other essential skills such as problem-solving, increased creativity and communication. It allows learners to collaborate with classmates and teachers across the globe, leading to a more interactive and dynamic learning experience. Overall, digital literacy is fundamental to supporting learners’ successful participation and achievement in open and distributed learning environments, enabling learners to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by digital education.
I remember how helpful zoom was when we were studying at home. Zoom supported our studies and professional life by providing virtual classrooms and meetings, allowing us to interact with our teachers and classmates wherever we were. It has fully enhanced our interaction off-site.Zoom’s many features (such as screen sharing, breakout rooms, and recording capabilities) provide flexibility in teaching and learning methods. It allows us to have as much of a face-to-face feel as possible through live streaming.
I’ll use YouTube as an example of a video platform. YouTube has become an essential tool in learning and professional environments, and it has completely changed education in several ways. First, it provides a huge library of educational content covering almost every subject imaginable. I can find anything in it that explains what I don’t know. I can watch lectures by well-known professors to give me a better understanding of this knowledge. This multimedia approach not only makes learning more appealing to me, but it is also suitable for learners who benefit from both visual and auditory experiences. Overall, YouTube provides a dynamic medium that makes learning variety. It allowed me to gain a lot of extra knowledge during the pandemic.
